A reflection on the year that almost broke me
Hi, I'm Madison
LA Native | Bay Area Local
I am: A daughter, a sister, a tia, A first generation college graduate and a (AMFT # 124474 ) Associate Marriage & Family Therapist in the State of California. And I'm a second-generation Xicana
Despite almost failing out of high school at the age of 16. I graduated Summa cum laude from Palo Alto University in 2020 with an MA in Counseling degree with an emphasis in Marriage, Family & Children.
I started working with Eating Disorders while at Cielo House, Moss Beach in 2018. Since then, I've worked extensively with individuals struggling with eating disorders & other cooccurring diagnoses. I've been fortunate enough to work with eating disorders at various levels of care ranging from Inpatient Hospitalization to Intensive outpatient since the beginning of my career.
The purpose of this site is to serve as platform to share a portfolio of my work (both professionally and personally). A unique preview into the clinician's experience. My intention is to normalize mental health, foster a sense of connectedness and a digital outlet for all of my thoughts, feelings and ideas!
Thank you so much for visiting!
“It takes courage to grow up and become who you really are.”
I'm Madison Steele
Formerly a financial aid counselor at private universities & local community colleges throughout the bay area. I'll always nerd out over state and federal regulations regarding financial aid. It was in 2018 when I returned to school to pursue my passion in mental health access and therapy.
Today, I'm the Clinical Director & Primary Therapist at Sunol Hills, Ridgeview. Currently I'm also seeing clients virtually with Mid Peninsula Eating Disorder Center. I also serve as the Board VP for Spark Girls Empowerment. Spark Girls provides school and community-based empowerment programs and workshops for elementary and middle school youth. As a Bay Area Local & resident I feel so fortunate to be able to help serve my community in whatever way possible.
I enjoy spending my free time learning & exploring.
Sometimes, this can look like: meeting new people, seeing new places, trying new foods. Or it can look like mindfulness outside to see if I notice anything different in my surroundings.
I'm inherently curious and drawn to the human experience.
Like you, I've struggled.
I have my own trauma, drama & struggles. Post-pandemic life has me picking up old coping skills like creative outlets and connectedness through modeling vulnerability.
I'm currently accepting new individual clients via MPEDC
Bay Area, CA
I'm now accepting individual psychotherapy clients!
